Food on the Farm

So far, Iva has made really good food. My favorite was the potato goulash. For breakfast we usually have homemade bread with butter or some sort of spread with meat and vegetables. Sometimes we will have store bought pastries or eggs (from the farm of course). Lunch is usually some type of soup with bread or potatoes. Dinner is usually similar or leftovers. I made fried rice the other night for dinner because Iva wanted to try Chinese (Cine) food. For the meat, I used beef from their cow that they had slaughtered and frozen. Iva’s daughter made a cake from scratch and cooked it in a wood fire oven. They do not have a trashcan in the kitchen because everything is used. Paper is burned in the fire, organic material is fed to the pig, eggshells are fed back to the chickens, plastic is recycled, and cans are repurposed. The other unusual thing here is syrup, which has variety of purposes-medicinal, relaxation, etc.-and you put it in your beverage. They also have medicinal alcohol. We did shots to help our soar throats.
